Summary:

Deep in the frozen heart of the arctic, the world's most feared monster has hidden away for centuries from the prying eyes of mankind. But now a desperate stranger has ventured to this timeless wasteland in search of the monster. Not to hunt or kill him like all other men before him. No, this man has come seeking the monster's help. In the darkened alleyways of Chicago, terrible experiments in bringing the dead back to life are again underway, filling the streets with soulless, undead wretches. And the only one who can stop the dark experiments is the creature who first crossed the threshold of death all those many years ago. A creature forged from the charnel house itself, brought to life through the burning pain of electricity. Stitched together from corpses coughed from their graves. With his new companion, the creature known as Frankenstein's Monster returns to the world of man. A world that hates and reviles him. To battle the horrifying results of his own dark legacy.

Summary:

Outlink station Miranda has been destroyed by a nanomycelium, and the very nature of this sabotage suggests that the alien bioconstruct Dragon - a creature as untrustworthy as it is gigantic - is somehow involved. Sent out on a titanic Polity dreadnought, the Occam Razor, agent Cormac must investigate the disaster. Meanwhile, on the remote planet Masada, the long-term rebellion can never rise above-ground, as the slave population is subjugated by orbital laser arrays controlled by the Theocracy in their cylinder worlds, and by the fact that they cannot safely leave their labour compounds. For the wilderness of Masada lacks breathable air ... and out there roam monstrous predators called hooders and siluroynes, not to mention the weird and terrible gabbleducks.

Summary:

During the past two decades, many books, governmental reports and regulations on safety measures against chemicals, fire, microbiological and radioactive hazards in laboratories have been published from various countries. These topics have also been briefly discussed in books on laboratory planning and management. The application of various scientific instruments based on different ionizing and non-ionizing radiations have brought new safety problems to the laboratory workers of today, irrespective of their scientific disciplines, be they in medicine, natural or life sciences. However, no comprehensive laboratory handbook dealing with all these hazards, some of which are recently introduced, has so far been available in a single volume. Therefore, it was thought worthwhile to publish this handbook on safety and health measures for laboratories, with contributions from several experts on these subjects. As this is a multi-author volume, some duplication in content among the chapters is unavoidable in order to maintain the context of a chapter as well as to make each chapter complete. An attempt has also been made to maintain the central theme, which is how to work in a laboratory with maximum possible environmental safety. I am indebted to Mr D. G. T. Bloomer of MTP Press Limited, who has undertaken the publication of this volume and to Mrs M. R. Lingard-Pal, for acting as an honorary editorial assistant. S. B. Summary:

WELDING AND METAL FABRICATION employs a unique hands-on, project-based learning strategy to teach welding skills effectively and keep students highly motivated. This groundbreaking new text connects each welding technique to a useful and creative take-home project, making exercises both practical and personal for students'and avoiding the tedium of traditional, repetitive welding practices. To further enhance the learning process, every welding project includes a set of prints with specifications, like those used in production fabrication shops. This full-featured approach to skill-building reflects the reality of professional welding, where following prints and instructions precisely and laying out, cutting out, and assembling weldment accurately are just as essential as high-quality welding. The included projects are small to conserve materials during the learning process, but detailed instructions and abundant photos and illustrations guide students through a wide range of fabrication skills. Key steps and techniques within the small projects are also linked to larger projects presented at the end of each chapter, enabling students to apply what they have learned by fabricating and welding something more substantial. This thorough, reader-friendly text also covers relevant academics, such as shop math and measurement, and prepares students for real-world success by having them document their time and materials for each project and prepare a detailed invoice. Summary:

On the southern edge of the vast Llano Estacado, Midland began as a midpoint along the Texas and Pacific Railway. From its earliest days, entrepreneurs like the Scharbauers and Henry Halff built a city based upon their dreams. Land speculators, ranchers, farmers, financiers, oilmen, investors, and engineers each placed their own unique brands on Midland’s landscape. Over time, the community earned a variety of nicknames—Windmill Town, Land of the High Sky, and Tall City, among them. Although seemingly remote, Midland has regularly gained attention at the state, national, and even international level in areas as diverse as airplanes (Texas’s first), cattle ranching, and as the home of George W. Bush. Midland’s story is an American tale of a successful small city.
